Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose follows One's orders. Feeling nervous and excited at the same time, a combo that left her stomach and her heart in the wrong places, she pulls on a black t-shirt, her wings easily tearing through it. She scowls at the site and puts on a lightweight leather jacket she had cut wing holes in. Completing her attire is a pair of baggy black pants and a pair of sneakers. Hurrying to the kitchen, she notices Laena and blushes self conciously, all-too aware of her wings and long nails. Her face a bright shade of pink, she manages down a bowl of cereal.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Gale notices Rose and One as he walks into the library and turns around. "Change of plans, we're not going so soon."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose's face is the picture of disappointed curiousty, but she doesn't question Gale. Well..."We're not?"
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"No, I was lying." Gale roles his eyes. "One, I want you to see how strong the punk is. Unless you're busy."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
One crosses his arms, there is a twinkle in his eyes. "How strong she is? Hmm, my pleasure."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose stares at One and shifts nervously. However, a determined spark in her eyes erases any doubts she may have.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"Good, the court yard is suitable for that. Meet me in here when you're done." Gale walks into the library and shuts the door behind him.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
One turns around, and beckons Rose to follow him. "Come, we're headed outside."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"Yes..uhm...sir?" Rose follows One outside. Once there, she looks around and wonders what 'testing strength' requires her to do.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"So, Rose, tell me, have you done any physical labor before? If so, what were you required to do?"
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"I've hauled firewood. Cut it, hauled it. Everyone did their part in camp. I've also carried my share. But...nothing, besides that."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"Interesting. Well, strength has different definitions. Endurance, mental strength and so on. It's the most important thing if you want this training to go well. Now, I want you to go into the woods and bring me back three slabs of rock, each about as big as a television. Go now."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose nods and walks into the woods. She looks around for a good 10-15 minutes before finding the first slab. She stares at it. It's big and looks quite heavy. Squatting next to it, she wraps her arms around it as best she can and lifts. The slab shifts. Rose scowls and shifts her posistion on the stone. Lifting again, she manages it and stumbles back to where One is, dropping the stone thankfully.
About a half hour later, the three slabs are piled neatly on top of each other. Rose is short of breath and slumps to sit next to them. |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"Good. Took longer than I'd like, but it's fine. Now, before you begin resting up, take each of these slabs and put them back where you found them. But the trick is, you have to do it in one trip."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"What? All at once?" She stares sullenly at the slabs. Never before in her life has she hated rock this much. Rose glares at One and stands up, moving to lift the three slabs. They immeditatly topple over. She screams a very loud curse when one falls on her foot. Frustrated and angry, she repiles them and lifts them with strength born of anger. Finally having them steady, she marches (with a slight limp) back into the woods.
Having finished the task, she returns to One. A dozen new scratches and bruises are splayed across her arms and face, but she seems to be determined enough to go on. |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
One stares down at Rose, and without warning, One strikes her down with one hand. "You dare cry because one falls on your foot? We don't like weakness here. Don't ever let me see it again. Now, I demand you, using this knife, to go back into the woods and cut down some trees. The castle needs more firewood. This shouldn't be too hard, now should it? But while you're lugging the wood on your back, go to Estecia Village, which is right near here, on the other side of these woods and buy some food and water. I imagine you'd like that, no? Seeing as Gale only has red wine, but I better see sufficient amount of wood and none of them damaged when you come back here." One holds out the knife for her to take.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose bites her tounge hard enough to bring blood forth. She snatches the knife from One's hand and storms off, one wing "accidently" slamming against his face. She stares at the knife in her hand and a full grown tree. Sneering, Rose bypasses the tree for a younger one. After a couple minutes of sawing at the tree, it becomes obvious that her task will take her days this way. Frustrated and angry, she swipes at the tree with the knife. To her vast amazement, the knife glows a brilliant white and cuts through the tree. She stares at it in amazement. "O-One?"
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
One, having been hit in the face, smiles afterwards, knowing he'll get his chance to get back at her later. But he waits there for a while when he sees a white flash in the woods and Rose calling his name. He hurries over and sees what just happened. He stands amazed. "Interesting. So I guess you were right when you came here, you do have something to train for. Of what race are you? Tell me some background history of yourself and your parents."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Gale has made his way to a laptop that he had place on one of the desks in the library. He was cycling through web-pages, most of which looked like reports and official documents. All worthless to what he was looking for. "Hmph. I'm not surpised there isn't any reports on them. I doubt that anyone would want such things on the news.. I'll just to have to employ more...unconventional methods." Gale reached into one of the many pockets off his vest and pulls out a cell phone. He quickly dials a number, and waits for a moment. "Hello there. I know that you are aware of who I am, so I'll make this brief. I want all the information that can be found on these key words: "Blythandor", "Yolanda", "Synthetic Demon", "Rand", and anything related to these. We'll discuss your payment once you tell me something I don't already know." Gale hangs up and slides the phone into a pocket. He wasn't to hopeful of Axis finding anything the he didn't already now, as he had checked himself. However, he didn't see anything to lose either. Those two seemed to be the root of most of his problems. Gale shuts the computer off, and lights a ciggerate. "Maybe I'll check up on One soon.."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
((Axis? Your tying that lot in with all this?))
"My father Katayk is a demon, as is my mother Rikali. But Rikali's differant. She told me about some dragon soul thing once. I didn't really pay much attention. Katayk's brother, my uncle, is Sadik. He's...uhm, a vampire demon, I guess. Gale knows that. And he uhm...bit me once..." Rose smiles, revealing the inch long fangs. "So I'm a demon with a little vampire and, if I remember what mom said right, dragon thrown in." ((shame she doesn't know what else runs in her veins. Have fun figuring it out, One.)) |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"Rikali? The one that tried to sneak into this castle? Tell me, did that bitch figure out the curse." He laughs. "You come from an interesting background. Demons and the likes, they're all weak in my opinion, once ruled but fell off after a while. Hah. So yeah, you do have a special power. That being said, it shouldn't be too hard finishing this task now should it? Oh, and that slap in the face? The next few tasks for you will be done one handed, and your bed in your room has already been removed. You will learn respect after this. Now, hurry and get the wood."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose sighs and turns back to her work, wondering what One meant by a curse. Was mom cursed? She scowls and shifts the thought to the back of her mind. Picking up the knife, she chops at the tree. The blade, however, doesn't pass through it easily. Rose stares at it in anger. In response, it glows a faint white. Her eyes widen in surprise. She then lets her anger, which had been building up, out through the knife. The blade glows a bright white glow that is hard to look at. Rose slices through the trees in a rage, venting her pent up rage against her parents, her inabilities to control her form and power, Gale, Laena, and most of all, One. The trees fall before her. Finally, the blade's peircing glow begins to fail. Behind her lays a path of fallen trees.
Triumphant, she turns to look at One. |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"It seems you let your anger control you. Sure, it brings out power, but it brings out weakness too. I'm hard on you, yes. But you'll be begging for me when Gale begins training you. We Abbissians never faltered when it came to training, we took it as seriously as we would take death. I don't believe in sympathy to my student. Now then, I hope you don't think you're done quite yet." He points into the woods. "That's the direction to go for Estecia Village. Oh and remember, one handed."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose picks up the firewood, using her wings to keep it secure on her back. She starts off towards the village, trying hard to not fall on her face.
She eventually reaches the village. Gratefully, she sits for a short rest on the edge of the town. |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
((Considering I control half of Axis I figured it's time to show they aren't dead. I don't think anyone will see them without Cloud posting as well.))
Gale had moved to one of the towers of this castle at this time. Sitting on the roof, he could spot One he jumped off and wall-kicked off other parts of the ground to make it safetly to One. "So how has the training been going?" |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Sees Gale come down. "The brat is disrespectful. But as I said before, she'll learn. I don't think this training is a complete waste, she seems to have some power that needs to be harnessed. It comes out when she's especially angry. Her family is almost all demons. Her mom is Rikali, the one that tried to sneak into your library. Hmm. . . the training is coming along, right now she's cutting down wood, and running a few errands in the village."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Gale scoffs. "I should of put that bitch down long ago. Women I meet have habit of coming of coming back and trying to kill me."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
In the village, Rose has finished her shopping. She kept the wood on her back, because, although it was a pain, she wasn't going to take an easy way out. She asked for this hell, after all.
Rose starts back towards the castle, munching half-heartedly on a candy bar she picked up. As she walks, she thinks about the day's process. "One isn't an easy teacher, but I think he's right in saying he's better then Gale. I wonder what he'll make me do when I get back?" About an hour and half from the time she left, Rose returns with two bags of food and drink, firewood on her back, and one hand empty. She's on the edge of collaspe. After all, demonic powers or not, she's only a ten year old girl. |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"It brings up something else, we have to be careful what we say around Rose, we don't know if she might tell her mother anything."
Ten minutes later, One sees Rose emerge. "Good going. Now just stock the kitchen and place the wood near the fireplace. Meet me out here when you're done." |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
A little while after, Rose stands before One yet again. Self conciously, in a very childish manner, she keeps her eyes down and her hands clasped in front of her.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"Alright then, well, since Gale is here, maybe he could suggest something for you to do." He turns to Gale. "Anything?"
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"I suppose we have some time before we leave, let's see if the kid can do anything more difficult then chores." Gale walks to the main gates and the open for him with a wave of his hand.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose watches, unsure if she's supposed to follow or wait. She glances at One, hoping he can tell her.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
One doesn't budge. He stares intently at Gale. Something has been bothering him for a while. Gale's manner has changed. One worries about the outcome. He noticed the changes long ago, but lately they've gotten worse. But One knew there was still a ray of hope shining through. It was the Siren, Laena. One witnessed the kiss and knew this was something he could use. But at the moment, he couldn't do a thing with her. He must prepare himself mentally and physically for whatever was to come, he knew it was soon time for him to leave the castle.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Laena emerges from the castle, her hair tied back in what looks like a bun made entirely out of tiny braides wrapped around each other. No wonder it took her so long to come outside. She stops next to One. "Hmmm.. I'm surprised the child isn't dead yet."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
"She has something going for her. Not a complete waste, but still a nuisance." He snaps his fingers to get Rose's attention. "Don't just stand there staring, follow Gale." He turns back to Laena. "You'll be happy to know we have restocked the kitchen. Plenty of water and food now. I sent the girl on a mission, took her long enough but it doesn't matter, benefits us more than her."
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Gale continues to walk, not really caring if Rose, or anyone else following, keeps up. He walks upstream from the river that goes into the woods. After a few minutes of walking, he comes to a very steep, and large, waterfall. He leans against a tree, waiting for Rose.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Rose moves fast, following Gale. She arrives at the tree seconds after he does and stares intently at him. Her eyes, like Gale's, reflecting nothing inside, shift from his face to study their surroundings.
At length, she returns her gaze to him and awaits directions. |
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Gale looks at the waterfall, torrents of water cascade down in rapidly. He takes Sin and throws it into the air. The sword crashes into the ground at the top, the water falling to pull it out before it falls. "I want you to climb the ledge the water is pouring down on. You may not fly, and if you get to high and lose your grip, you won't be able to anyway with all that water. If you take to long, Sin will heat up and boil the water, and you if you haven't made it up yet. I feel generous, so I'll give you...ten minutes. Go." Gale leans against the tree, watching a pocketwatch he slipped out while talking.
|
Re: Gale's Castle (Part 2)
Laena raises her arms and stretches, ready to be amused by the torture about to ensue.
